FISHING VILLAGES & BEACHES: As well as in Crail itself, picturesque harbours and/or clean, safe beaches can be found in Pittenweem, St Monans, Elie, Kingsbarns, St Andrews, Lower Largo and Anstruther, the last with it's well-renowned fish & chip shop.

HISTORY: Fife has a long and rich heritage with many attractions dating throughout the ages; from prehistoric standing stones and Celtic long barrows through medieval castles and cathedrals to a 20th century "Secret Bunker".

NATURE: Fife Ness Muir is an important nature reserve where over 150 species of birds have been recorded, including numbers of migrating birds going to or from 14 European countries. Other birdwatching sites in Fife include Kilconquar Loch, Largo Bay, the Eden Estuary & Tentsmuir Forest, St Andrews Bay and the May Island which has been a nature reserve since 1956, with a large grey seal colony and populations of nesting and migrating seabirds including puffins, shags, guillemots, razorbills and kittiwakes. Boat trips are available from Anstruther Harbour during summer months.

GOLF: there are over 30 golf courses in the Kingdom of Fife, some of the most notable being within a few miles of Crail, including St Andrews, Kingsbarns, Ladybank, Elie, Leven, Scoonie, Charlestown and of course Crail Golfing Society's two excellent links courses.

CYCLING: Fife has one of the UK's most comprehensive cycle networks. Explore 300 miles (500km) of cycle route along quiet country lanes, disused railway lines and forest tracks as well as commuter routes in towns.
